2008-2009 Vicksburg Community Theatre Season

The Gold in the Hills summer run, directed by John Hesselberg, closes this weekend at the Parkside Playhouse!
If you're just visiting Vicksburg, or if you've lived here your whole life, come see the melodrama that has been entertaining audiences for over 74 years.
Shows: Fri.-Sat. Jul. 9-31, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 children (12 & under)

As in the past, the curtain will remain open after Saturday's show, signifying that “the curtain never closes on Gold in the Hills.” All current and former cast members will gather onstage to sing Auld Lang Syne. Our cast this weekend will include actors with family roots back to the original 1936 cast, as well as actors who will be performing for the very first time. That combination is something that makes Gold so special.

Fun for the whole family. Sing the old songs! Cheer the hero! Boo the villain! Presented yearly since 1936, Gold in the Hills features a relentless hero, a winsome heroine, a ruthless villain, beautiful can-can dancers, and the wilder side of city life in the infamous New York Bowery.

Gold in the Hills, the Guinness Book of World Records' longest-running show, is having another exciting run in July 2010, with performances Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7:30 pm. We offer open seating, no reservations required, and always plenty of seats.

This Property is NOT Condemned! The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre has taken the first step on its path to a new permanent home after being totally destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The New John F. Holmes Theatre will be in a building known locally as the “This Property is Condemned” building, a building that was featured prominently in the 1966 film of the same name. Based (loosely) on a Tennessee Williams one-act play, the movie starred Natalie Wood and the devilish Robert Redford, and is believed to be the only movie filmed in Bay St. Louis. The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre broke ground on their new John F. Holmes Playhouse November 6, 2009.
